"Sounds of Indiana Keep Coming"
Indianapolis Star - November 16, 1999
by David Lindquist
When albums made in central Indiana arrive at my desk, the recordings represent dedicated artists who want to share music with their neighbors and fans - despite obstacles by stingy radio programming and daunting promotional costs.
Here's a sampling of recent area release, led by a nifty trio of instrumental-driven projects:
Yeah, Man, Bill Lancton, Marimba Records.
As the Yeah, Man title implies, guitarist Bill Lancton (a member of Dog Talk) has filled his second solo album with breezy jazz and upscale blues.
Lancton's MIDI synthesizer skills permeate this varied yet cohesive work.
Expertly recorded at Indianapolis' Lodge Studio, Yeah, Man includes accomplished playing by organist Allen Burke, drummer Kenny Phelps and bass player Jonathon Wood.
For information on Bill Lancton, call (317) 632-2134.
